For us, doing the right thing goes beyond simply fulfilling our duties; it is about going the extra mile to support those in need. Cheung Yu Shun, a Store Manager at Wellcome Hong Kong, exemplified this value by taking personal responsibility to ensure the wellbeing of one of our customers.

While on duty one day, Yu Shun came across a distressed elderly woman who wished to seek help. She explained that her husband had fallen nearby and suffered head and limb injuries. Despite repeated pleas for medical attention, he refused to see a doctor and had stayed home for several days. With their children out of town, the woman was deeply concerned for her husband’s health and decided to turn to the store for assistance.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, Yu Shun immediately consulted the senior manager and decided to accompany the woman back to her home. Upon arriving, he found the husband sitting at home, visibly bruised. With patience, he persuaded him to seek medical care and arranged for an ambulance to ensure he received necessary treatment. Thanks to Yu Shun’s quick thinking and compassionate actions, the husband made a full recovery. The couple later returned to the store to express their heartfelt gratitude. 

Yu Shun’s actions demonstrate the power of doing the right thing. By prioritising the wellbeing of our customers, he not only helped build trust and loyalty but also reinforced the positive impact of our stores on the community. His dedication is a testament to how empathy and responsibility can make a lasting difference.
