Target to Raise HK$2,000,000 for The Hub Hong Kong 
To Support 2,200 Underprivileged Children

As the society gradually resumes normal, the problems left behind by the three-year pandemic are becoming increasingly apparent, especially for children from underprivileged families. Many of them had been trapped in cramped living spaces during the pandemic and it has caused a severe impact on different aspects of their lives, such as the decreased amount of exercise, malnutrition, and insufficient sleep. The worrying situation has led to a decline in their health conditions - according to recent studies, only a quarter of Hong Kong's children and adolescents have been able to reach the recommended level of physical activity, while a quarter of the study group are overweight or obese. In addition to inadequate exercise, underprivileged families are more likely to purchase canned food or fast food as their primary source of nutrition during the pandemic due to their financial challenges, resulting in a lack of fresh fruits and vegetables in their diets. The imbalanced diet has put them at risk of prolonged vitamin D deficiency, which can lead to skeletal health issues and immunodeficiency.

In light of this, Mannings has announced the launch of the "Helping Kids Grow Happier, Healthier and Stronger" charity campaign. For every Mannings Own Brand Health Supplements sold, Mannings will donate HK$2 to The Hub Hong Kong, a local children's support centre dedicated to providing educational support to the underprivileged, with a goal of donating HK$2 million within a year to support over 2,200 underprivileged families and children. Through donating Mannings' Own Brand Health Supplements and organising various health education activities, Mannings aims to provide comprehensive assistance to children from underprivileged families in Hong Kong through its nutritious supplements and thus, laying a solid foundation for their future development. Being committed to protecting the health of the community throughout the years, Mannings believes that the children are our future and thus, we strive to support children's health with our own strengths and resources, in hopes to play our part in nurturing the future leaders of our society.

 

“Encouraging Customers’ Participation”: Donating $2 for Every Designated Mannings Own Brand Health Product Sold

To encourage public participation in the campaign, HK$2 will be donated to The Hub Hong Kong for each designated Mannings’ Own Brand Health Supplements sold on both online and physical Mannings stores in Hong Kong starting from 9 June 2023. The target is to donate HK$2 million within a year to support a series of activities and programs that will benefit underprivileged children, such as purchasing Mannings' Own Brand "Kids Calcium + D3 Gummies" and "Kids Chewable C + Zinc Tablets" at costs for the children in need in Sham Shui Po and Yau Tsim Mong districts through The Hub Hong Kong. The donation will also be used to launch community sports programmes, organise health workshops or lectures, and provide nutritionist consultation services by Mannings pharmacists and dieticians. Raising awareness among the public about the health conditions of our children is, undoubtedly, the key mission of the programme.

 


“Let’s Get Healthy Fest” - A Carnival to Develop Children’s Potential

The "Let’s Get Healthy” Festival was organised by the Mannings along with The Hub Hong Kong on 27 May 2023 at Christian Alliance International School of Hong Kong, in hopes to provide an opportunity for underprivileged families in the nearby Sham Shui Po and Yau Tsim Mong areas to enjoy and have a joyful pleasant family time. The event featured various game booths and professional health consultation services provided by registered pharmacists and nutritionists from Mannings, educating both the parents and the children more about healthy lifestyles while offering them an experience of playing sports and staying active. The Mannings volunteer team prepared and distributed gift packs to the participating families and children, delivering blessings with actions and wishing them a happy and healthy childhood.
