For the past two years, Wellcome has walked alongside the community during the pandemic, and the “Low Prices Locked” programme had been launched to lock the price of selected products as a part of our commitment to give back to the community. In face of the continuous COVID-19 pandemic, Wellcome has announced that the “Low Prices Locked” programme will be extended, starting from 1 April, for at minimal another 6 months with over 800 selected food and daily essentials. The prices of selected products will stay the same in the upcoming 6 months, in hopes to take care of the pressing needs of many.

The fifth wave of the pandemic has brought serious adverse impact on the economy and people’s livelihoods in the past 3 months, causing families to be more conscious about their spending. Thus, Wellcome, as part of the community and the leading supermarket chain in Hong Kong, pledges to do our best and maintain the supply of high-quality products at a low price to share the burden. The new round of “Low Prices Locked” features over 800 selected food and daily essentials, including various fresh foods, dairy products, oil, rice, canned foods, snacks, household and cleaning products, etc. Best-selling daily necessities that are well-loved by the customers including Coca Cola, Vitasoy Pure Soyabean Extract, Lion & Globe Peanut Oil, Greatwall Chopped Pork and Ham, Meadows Bathroom Tissue, Swashes Disinfectant Wet Tissues and Yu Pin King Thai Hom Mali Rice have been included to provide more options for the customers.

“Low Prices Locked” has been loved throughout the two years of its implementation. Unlike the ordinary marketing campaigns, the products included in the programme will have the prices on lock and, thus, provide a guaranteed low price with stability and transparency to protect our customers from price fluctuations. It is no longer necessary to compare prices among different shops or hoard products when they are on sale. Instead, customers could purchase desirable products anytime without the hassle and enjoy a timesaving, convenient and enhanced shopping experience.

Hence, the prices of the food and daily essentials in Hong Kong experienced volatility and it has affected the entire economy, along with people's livelihoods. As an enterprise that prioritises corporate social responsibility and as a part of the Hong Kong community, we would love to contribute to the society through expanding and extending the ‘Low Prices Locked’ programme by maintaining the prices of over 800 products for another 6 months. We will review it again in the coming months. Even when the transportation and the raw material cost escalates, our price commitment to our customers will remain the same and we would steadfastly shoulder the cost pressures to do our part in combating the effects of the pandemic with our community.”

“Low Prices Locked” is one of the initiatives that Wellcome has launched to give back to the community since October 2020. The prices of 300 products have been locked at the beginning of the programme. On the first anniversary of the launch in October 2021, Wellcome had announced that the programme will be continued for another 365 days and increasing the numbers of products included to over 800 from 1 April this year. The low-price pledge will at minimal be maintained until 30 September this year.
